Thank you to the Westminster Child & Parent Centre and Foodbank for offering these cooking lessons to our school community.

Performing Arts

Well done to our Year 1, 2, 3 & 4 students who participated in the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival recently.  Thank you to Mr Flamenco for his invaluable support by accompanying the students on the piano and to Mrs von Bergheim for many weeks of preparation with the students.

Book Week

It was great to see so many of our students participating in Book Week activities promoted through our School Library. We were joined by our local MLA, Janine Freeman who read a book to the Year Two students, whilst in costume. Thank you to Janine for promoting books to our students!

Father’s Day Celebrations

All dads and would be dads are welcome to join in a cooked breakfast at St Gerard’s on this Friday 1st September between 7.45 and 8.30 am. The Year Three students will conduct a liturgy following the breakfast from 8.40am. We hope you can make it!   For catering purposes, please ensure you return your reply slip to your child’s class teacher ASAP.

Social Worker Farewell

We say goodbye to Mrs Kathy Mueller at the end of term. Mrs Mueller has been our school social worker for the past year helping students and their families suffering hardships and difficulties. Thank you Mrs Mueller for assisting the St Gerard’s school community and we wish you well in your future plans.

The students would like to open up their classrooms and show you some of their work which they have accomplished this year. They have also created some art work which will be on display in the School Hall. Here are the times of this year’s Open Night & Art Show which will be held next week on Tuesday 5th September:

Faction Cross Country

Congratulations to the students who represented St Gerard’s

at the Interschool Cross Country Competition last week.

Congratulations Daniel

In Term Two the Year 3 and 4 classes entered the Therapy Focus Art Competition.

Children were asked to read the text from book 'Ben Tries To Fly', and illustrate a page of their choice.  Over 4000 children entered from all over Western Australia, and Aarav Paul and Daniel Tesfaye were chosen in the top 100.

At the beginning of Term 3 we received the exciting news that Daniel Tesfaye from Year 3 was chosen as a winner and would have his illustration published in the book.  On Thursday the 24th of August he was awarded his prize at the unveiling of the book, and the winners and their illustrations will be published in the community newspaper soon. Congratulations Daniel on promoting greater understanding, acceptance and inclusion of children with special needs in our community.

Best wishes!
